PRESENTING ROSS SZABO:
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 5:30 PM
Price Center
Theater. http://wellness.ucsd.edu/RossSzabostudent.shtml
Stress, depression, and suicidal thoughts are things that many UC San
Diego students experience. However, there is a way to cope with these
issues, while breaking down the stigma of mental health, and leading a
well-balanced, successful lifestyle.
The Wellness Center is sponsoring an important speaker, Ross Szabo, to
talk about mental health and wellness issues as part of our emotional
wellness and suicide prevention efforts.
Szabo has put a face to a problem confronting one in every five
teenagers and young adults in United States. Diagnosed bipolar at age
16, Ross has learned firsthand about the intricacies of mental
disorders. He has spoken to over 400,000 young people. Szabo helps
students break down the societal stereotypes surrounding overwhelming
stress and depression, which can lead to increased loneliness,
isolation, and suicide. Ross uses tasteful humor and insights to help
participants understand common mental health conditions and individual
differences. This life-changing event will help improve emotional
wellness, which is an integral part of living a healthy, balanced
lifestyle.
Ross Szabo will be doing a campuswide presentation on Wednesday, April
22nd at 5:30pm in the Price Center Theater.
