Graduate Student Campus Committees
Are you interested in getting more involved? Do you want to help steer UCSD to more grad-friendly campus policies and resources? Then the GSA wants you to represent the graduate students on a campus policy committee! Here you can find a brief description of the various GSA committees and external committees (such as in the Academic Senate or Vice Chancellor Advisory boards) to which the GSA appoints student representatives.
Appointed by VP of Academic Affairs:
GSA Academic and Judicial Committee (AJC)
Time Commitment: Monthly or as needed, 1-1.5 hours
Representatives advise the VP Academic on academic and professional development matters related to grad students, help plan and execute the PhD Career Conference, and occasionally act as GSA’s court in cases of misconduct by GSA Council members.

University Centers Advisory Board (UCAB)
Time Commitment: Every 2-3 weeks, 1-1.5 hours
This committee advises University Centers (UCEN) on new buildings and vendors at the Old Student Center, Price Center, and the co-ops such as the G-store, the food co-op, Groundworks Bookstore, and Che Cafe. UCAB has its own budget and votes on proposed improvements to UCEN facilities, such as the grand opening of Soda & Swine and Seed & Sprout.
Associated Residential Community Housing Advisory Committee (ARCHAC)
Time Commitment: Every week, 1-1.5 hours
ARCHAC sets the policies for graduate housing on campus, including rent structures, time limits for graduate students, pet policies, parking policies, and more. The committee is co-chaired by a graduate student and is majority graduate student voters.
Transportation Policy Committee (TPC)
Time Commitment: Monthly, 1-1.5 hours
The transportation policy committee works with Transportation Services to fix bus services, parking services, and other services related to transportation on campus. This committee has faculty and staff representatives in addition to students.
Campus/Community Planning Committee (C/CPC)
Time Commitment: Monthly, 2 hours
C/CPC provides counsel and advice to the Chancellor with respect to the physical development of the La Jolla campus, Elliott Field Station and the surrounding community. The C/CPC reviews cites proposed for new buildings, reviews and advises the Chancellor on long range planning, and monitors development of the surrounding community.
Graduate Housing Artistic Stewardship Program (GHASP)
Time Commitment: Begins Fall via email, Skype, and in-person monthly, 1 hour
Representatives will work on a manual specifying how artwork will be acquired and placed in the new incoming graduate housing building in Mesa. The group will recommend what types of artwork, murals, and payment possibilities for grad student submitting their artwork to be considered in these new buildings.
Student Conducts Code Group
Time Commitment: Every 2 weeks, 1 hour
Works with university administrators on the revisions to the Student Conducts Code. Currently, the group has been looking at language consistency within the Student Conducts Code and other university wide codes.
Time Commitment: Every 2 weeks, 1 hour
This group will be working on a Transportation committee charge that will help the GSA and VP Campus stay informed and up-to-date on all transportation contingents on campus. Some of the tasks this group is taking on this summer and year are: UPass referendum, helping revitalize the campus-wide Transportation Policy Committee, and increase communication on Shuttle services during these times of high construction on campus.

GSA Legislative Advocacy Committee (LAC)
Time Commitment: Monthly, 1 hour
Open to all graduate students who are interested in helping develop platforms and meeting with local, state and national lawmakers on issues related to graduate students, such as research funding, affordable housing, campus safety, mental health, and immigration.

GSA Social Programming Committee (SPC)
Time Commitment: Every 2-3wks, 1hour
Helps plan fun events to strengthen our graduate student community. Representatives will advise the Social Affairs office on quarterly Free-for-All events, the 4-6 Roaming Socials each quarter, and help decide on themes, venues, scheduling, advertising, and other improvements for our events.

GSA Finance Committee
Time Commitment: Every 2 weeks, 1 hour
Reviews funding bills by graduate students for various events organized by student organizations and departments, which range from professional and academic development to promotion of diversity, and grad-family events. Works with the Financial Affairs office to propose a GSA budget for the following academic year and advises council on all matters pertaining to the GSA budget.
Student Fee Advisory Committee (SFAC)
SFAC is charged with evaluating Student Fee Funded Units and making recommendations on allocations of the Student Fees that every student pays while attending UC San Diego. Ensures that the proposed Student Fee uses are in the best interests of the university and its students, and in compliance with existing policies and guidelines. The committee is comprised of students, faculty, and campus administrators, with students comprising a substantial majority. Annually, the committee compiles and submits recommendations for allocations of the Student Services Fees.
Sports Facilities Advisory Board (SFAB)
SFAB is the principal advisory committee on sports facilities and related policies at the University of California, San Diego. SFAB operates under this charter with the approval of the Chancellor, the Associated Students Council and the Graduate Student Association Council. The Committee is charged by the Chancellor and given the responsibility of ensuring that the sports facilities have the emphases, breadth, and coordination to complement optimally the philosophy, missions, and goals of UCSD.

Appointed by VP of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion:
GSA Diversity Advisory Council (DAC)
Time Commitment: every 2-3 weeks, 1-1.5 hours
Representatives come together to address issues pertaining to diversity and community building for URMs across campus. DAC has tackled issues regarding our current US President’s Executive Orders, Neo-Fascist posters on campus, RAZA Chalkings a couple years ago, and more. Committee usually does doodles for meeting times.

GSA Governance Documents Maintenance Committee (GDMC)
Time Commitment: As needed, typically every 2-3 weeks, 1 hour
Keeps GSA’s Constitution, bylaws, and other documents up to date, reflecting the most current roles and duties of the GSA and its members. When needed, representatives will also help graduate students with language when planning to propose a resolution, committee charges, or other documents to GSA Council. Committee sends out doodle when meeting is necessary.
