To provide a focus for child care concerns within the UCSD community, facilitate the preservation and expansion of high quality child care facilities and services for UCSD, and advice the Vice Chancellor - Business Affairs in mailers concerning the UCSD community and its needs for child care, including:
- Serve as a source and repository for all information, surveys, studies and policies concerning child care needs of the UCSD community;
- Serve as the main body for the discussion and formulation of policies to be recommended to the Vice Chancellor - Business Affairs concerning child care issues at UCSD.
Currently, child care at UCSD is offered through three programs: the UCSD Early Childhood Development Center, the International Center Child Care Program and the Infant and Preschool Referral Program. In order to facilitate the preservation and expansion of high quality child care facilities for UCSD, the Vice Chancellor, Business Affairs\'s Day Care Oversight Committee will:
- Apprise the Vice Chancellor - Business Affairs of the immediate needs of the existing child care programs;
- Work with UCSD administration to analyze the need for child care and expand current programs as necessary;
- Work to maintain high quality, affordable child care for faculty, students and staff within the UCSD community.
Recommendations regarding resource requirements including costs of start-up and on going child care operations, the development and analysis of studies and surveys, space for child care facilities, etc., will be presented to the Vice Chancellor - Business Affairs. The Committee will work closely with the Vice Chancellor - Business Affairs, administrative offices and existing child care facilities on any and all matters concerning the child care needs of the UCSD community.
