Posted in
Date:
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Location:
Robinson Building Complex Auditorium

Larry Diamond helps us understand why and how democracy actually progresses in his new book The Spirit of Democracy: The Struggle to Build Free Societies throughout the World. The desire for democracy runs deep, he shows, even in very poor countries and in the turbulent Middle East. And through expanding economic freedom, civic mobilization, and the development of "liberation technology,"even seemingly entrenched regimes like those in Iran and China could well become democracies within a generation.

Open Committees!

Consider representing graduate students on the committees listed below. What matters most is that you are willing to review committee agendas for topics relevant to the graduate student community. In this sense you would serve as part of an early warning measure to provide intelligence to the GSA executive committee on a range of issues that directly affect our community. The only requirement for appointment is that representatives are graduate students in good standing.
